Packing

Whenever a compressor requires maintenance, the packing and wiper cases need reconditioning. Vital clearances are usually reduced as metallic packings transfer material to packing cups. Non-metallic packings can wear sealing surfaces in the cups, increasing clearances.

Southwest Compressor Services reconditions packing and wiper cases to maintain cup depths and grind and lap cups for true alignment when assembled. A misaligned case means rod rubbing and incomplete sealing of the process gas and can promote oil leakage. We also manufacture replacement cases with single or double point lubrication design & water cooling as required.
